Two Ways to Give Back to The Community at this Year’s 19th Annual Barracuda Championship

 In News

The Tournament Returns to Montrêux July 31-Aug. 6

RENO, Nev. (June 29, 2017) – There are a couple ways to give back to the community while enjoying the outdoors in a beautiful setting this summer. This year the Barracuda Championship announced that volunteering is free of charge and the Birdies for Charity program is in full swing for members of the community looking to support local charities.

Volunteering
Volunteer registration is now open for the Barracuda Championship set for July 31 through Aug. 6, 2017. Volunteering at the tournament is a great way to get outdoors, enjoy a breathtaking setting, give back and be a part of an internationally recognized event. No golf experience or knowledge is required to participate. Volunteers receive a uniform, daily meal, tournament tickets and invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party on Saturday during the tournament.

As a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, the Barracuda Championship relies on more than 700 volunteers to help make the event a success, which also includes supporting other community non-profits. To date the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation has given more than $3.6 million to local organizations. To sign up visit BarracudaChampionship.com and click on the “volunteer” tab or call the Barracuda Championship office at 775-322-3900.

Birdies for Charity
A major part of the Barracuda Championship’s mission is to give back to the community and now there is a chance for the public to get involved and win prizes. To enter, make a one-time flat donation, or pledge one cent or more per birdie made by PGA TOUR professionals during the 2017 Barracuda Championship Thursday, Aug. 3 through Sunday, Aug. 6.

Participants will have the chance to win prizes including a flat screen TV, $100 Golf Headquarters gift card, Callaway Epic Driver, tournament merchandise and more courtesy of Duncan Golf Management. To get involved make a one-time donation, or pledge, of one cent or more per birdie.

The grand prize will be awarded to the person who guesses the correct number of birdies. A grand prize of a one-year family membership to Lakeridge, Wolf Run and Dayton Valley golf courses is up for grabs. Entries will be accepted online through July 31 at CudaBirdies.com.

The fundraising program is designed to support other local not-for-profit organizations in ongoing efforts to raise funds. Each organization will receive every penny of donations and pledges collected plus a 10 percent match. That means, each charity receives 110 percent of the funds donated to their organization through this program!
