Barracuda Championship Donates to Local Charities During Week of Giving
Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation Presented Checks to Eight Local Charities Between November 2 and 6
RENO, Nev. (November 9, 2015) – Last week Barracuda Championship staff volunteered their time and gave more than $67,000 to eight local charities during this year’s Week of Giving. The Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation, the nonprofit that oversees the annual Barracuda Championship PGA TOUR event, has given more than $3.1 million to date.
“It has always been important to us to remain strong partners in the community,” Chris Hoff, tournament director for the Barracuda Championship. “In addition to visiting eight local charities, the tournament has generated a total of $191,086 so far this year.”
Recipients of the checks included Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, Reno Youth Police Explorers, Children’s Cabinet, Carson Animal Services Initiative, First Tee of Northern Nevada, Each One Tell One, Veteran’s Guest House and Damonte Ranch High School Cheer.
This year, dubbed #CudaChampCharity, Barracuda Championship turned their traditional one day event into a week of giving. Throughout the week checks were presented at the charities’ facilities and Barracuda Championship staff volunteered their time doing various activities at each location including helping pass out snacks and lunch at Boys and Girls Club, featuring adoptable dogs at Carson Animal Services Initiative on their Facebook page and serving dinner at the Veteran’s Guest House.
The week of giving was possible with the help of generous sponsors including Barrick Gold of North America, ABC Fire, Docs Supporting Troops, Nature’s Bakery, Las Vegas Sands, Reno Renegades, Montreux Development Group and Barracuda Networks.
