2015 BARRACUDA CHAMPIONSHIP OFFERS MORE THAN GOLF AT REGION’S ONLY PGA TOUR EVENT
RENO, Nev. (July 30, 2015) – The 17th annual Barracuda Championship kicks off with the Eldorado Pro-Am Monday, August 3 at 1 p.m. followed by a week of fun events and top tier PGA TOUR competition. Here is what attendees can expect from this year’s PGA TOUR event:
Eldorado Pro-Am Tournament – Monday, August 3
With past participants including PGA TOUR greats including Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, John Daly, Padraig Harrington, David Duval and Bubba Watson, the Pro-Am offers local amateurs a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
What’s more, Reno’s own Dr. Evan Pritchett of Pritchett Eye Care, Inc. and Dr. Matthew B. Mills of Eye Care Professionals sponsor local veterans for a chance to participate in the Pro-Am through the Doctors Supporting Troops program.
Patriots’ Luncheon – Tuesday, August 4
The Barracuda Championship and Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation pay special tribute to our nation’s troops while raising money for the Veterans Guest House with the sixth annual Patriots’ Luncheon at the Reno Air National Guard Base. Attendees have the unique opportunity to experience an actual military base while hearing stories of incredible heroism and strength from soldiers. Tables for the Patriots Luncheon can be purchased for $1,000 and include eight open seats, with a 9th seat to be filled by a local military. Individual tickets are available for $125.
Kid Zone – Thursday – Sunday, August 6-9
Open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., kids have the opportunity to participate in some fun and games including a bounce house and face painting while parents can enjoy the tournament.
Mirassou Wine Walk – Thursday – Sunday, August 6-9
The Mirassou Wine Walk returns with four tasting stations to enjoy from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Nature’s Bakery Heroes Hangout – Thursday – Sunday, August 6-9
The ninth green of the 17th Annual Barracuda Championship dons its stars and stripes for the return of the Nature’s Bakery Heroes Hangout offering military active duty, guard, reserve, veterans and first responders including EMTs, police and firefighters an epic viewing spot of the PGA TOUR event complete with complementary Reno Provisions catering provided by Nature’s Bakery and summertime refreshments courtesy of Coors Light and Pepsico from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A qualifying form of identification is required for entry.
Coors Light 19th Hole – Friday, August 7
After the final putt sinks on Friday, August 7, enjoy post tournament libations and live music from Tahoe band Ike & Martin, courtesy of Coors Light.
Mixology at Montrêux – Saturday, August 8
New to the Barracuda Championship, five local bartenders compete to create the best cocktail at the Coors Light 19th Hole from noon to 5 p.m. Guests can also enjoy live entertainment from DJ Grey Grey as well as favorite lawn games including Yard Yahtzee, Corn Hole, Bucket Pong and others.
In addition to the competition and activities at the Coors Light 19th Hole tent, attendees will receive a shuttle ride from downtown Reno to Montrêux Golf & Country Club, a complimentary cocktail on the shuttle, two drink tickets, one meal ticket valid at any of the Barracuda Championship food vendors (Famous Dave’s, Burger Me, or concessions by Roundabout Catering), exclusive tastings from the competition finalists and entry to the PGA TOUR event for $45 in advance and $50 the day of.
Drive, Chip & Putt Local Competition and Sub-regional Qualifier – Saturday, August 8
The Drive, Chip & Putt national junior golf skills competition is sponsored by the United State Golf Association, Masters Tournament, and the PGA of America and is open to young golfers ages 7-15. 2014 winner Meghan Paracuelles went on to compete in the finals at the PGA TOUR Masters at Augusta.
